Children's Counseling

Just as adults, children can benefit from therapy. Many kids need help dealing with stress and peer issues. It’s also good to have an adult, who is not your parent, to talk to. Major issues like divorce or internally family matters, can be handled in a way to bring harmony to the child and the family.

Why Should My Child See a Therapist?

Significant life events such as the death of a loved one, divorce, move, or major illness in the family can result in problems with behavior, sleep, appetite, school achievement, or social functioning.

Some of the outward signs or diagnosis that can benefit from consulting a Therapist would be:

  • Delay in speech, language, or milestones normally achieved by their age
  • Bedwetting or eating changes
  • Drop in grades or suddenly not completing work
  • Episodes of sadness, crying, or depression
  • Acting socially withdrawn or isolated
  • Bullying by other children
  • Mood swings
  • Excessive school absenteeism
  • Insomnia or increased sleep patterns
  • Decreased interest in what usually makes them happy
  • The possibility/signs of physical, sexual, or emotional abuse
  • Alcohol/drug abuse/prescription abuse

We also have worked with children that have been diagnosed with:

  • Behavioral and Emotional Disorders
  • Anxiety
  • ADHD
  • Autism
  • Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Children Conduct Disorder Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD)
  • Eating Disorders

It is our goal for your child to live a happy and fulfilled life both in and out of the home.
